Importing a chat
The fastest way: from your Mac
If your texts are on a Mac, download Chatini Sync, open the disk image and drag Chatini Sync to Applications. Then:
- Open it. The first time, turn it on in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Full Disk Access, so it can read Messages. Allow Contacts too, so chats show names.
- Click the little Chatini in your menu bar, pick one chat, and click Create Chatini QR.
- Point your iPhone's Camera at the code and tap the Chatini banner. Both need to be on the same Wi-Fi.
On your iPhone
No Mac? In Chatini, tap Import, add the Chatini helper to Shortcuts, then tap Find my chats. Apple asks for permission a few times: tap Always Allow each time and keep Shortcuts open. A long chat can take several minutes.
Common questions
The Mac app shows phone numbers instead of names
Open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Contacts, and turn on Chatini Sync. Then quit it from its menu and open it again.
Scanning the code does nothing
Make sure your iPhone and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, and that the code is less than 10 minutes old. You can also scan from inside Chatini: Import, then Scan the code with Chatini.
Restore my purchases
Open the plans page in Chatini and tap Restore. Subscriptions come back on any device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Cancel a subscription
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Chatini. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews.
Get a refund
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Delete my data
Your chats live on your phone: erase them in Chatini's Settings, or delete the app. To delete the anonymous account records we keep for credits and purchases, email us.
