Terms of Use

The plain-language terms for using Chatini and Chatini Sync. Last updated October 17, 2026.

By using Chatini (the iPhone app) or Chatini Sync (the Mac app), you agree to these terms and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Chatini is made by Joshua Carter ("Chatini", "we"). Our Privacy Policy explains how your data is handled.

Your chats

• Only import chats you're part of, and use what Chatini shows you with respect for the other people in them.
• You're responsible for the chats you import and for what you share, including Backscroll videos.
• Don't use Chatini to harass, stalk, threaten or harm anyone, or to break the law.

Answers are for fun and reflection

Chatini reads patterns in messages. Its answers can be wrong or incomplete, they describe what the messages show rather than what anyone thinks or feels, and they are not facts. They are not medical, legal, mental-health or relationship advice. If you or someone else may be in danger, contact local emergency services.

Purchases

• Subscriptions. Chatini Plus and Chatini Premium renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends in your Apple Account settings. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
• Credits. Plans include credits each month. Unused monthly credits carry over for one month. Yearly plans are billed once a year and add the same credits every month. Credits bought in packs never expire. Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred.
• Passes. The Tasting, A Pour, A Flight, The Bottle, Another Round and A Toast each cover the chats, messages, questions and Nudge runs described when you buy them. A pass stays with the first chat it's used on. The Tasting is offered once per account.
• Failed answers cost nothing. If an answer fails, or a run finds nothing, its credits or pass use are returned.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Changes to the service

We may change, add or remove features, prices or the models used to write answers. We'll show any price before you pay it. If we stop offering a paid feature you've paid for and haven't used, we'll do what we reasonably can to make it right.

No warranty

Chatini is provided as is and as available. We don't promise it will always work, be error-free, or find everything in a chat.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
